REDDIT REVUE: r/FunkoPop
This month’s Reddit Revue: r/FunkoPop!
Way back in 2018, I wrote the precursor article to both the Reddit Revue and the Battlestation Reviews, an article titled “I visited r/Battlestations. Here’s what I learned.”
One of the things I noticed about r/Battlestations was that everybody had Funko Pops in their setups. Like, absurd amounts. I’ve never quite understood the appeal of these things, even if I’m guilty of owning my own small collection. They’re ugly, most of them just barely look like the characters they’re supposed to be, and to top it all off they’re almost as expensive as normal collectable figures. The one upside they do have is being stackable if you keep them in the box. In my defense, at least most of mine are of relatively niche things, like V, Starship Troopers, and the Hamburglar. Most of the ones I see posted all over Reddit are of basic shit like Star Wars or whatever the latest J.J. Abrams fake nerd shit is.
Funko Pops are still popular as hell on Reddit. But for some reason, it never once occurred to me that there was an entire subreddit dedicated to the things. Luckily, we have readers like Cave, who have no problem diving headfirst into the parasite-infested waters of Reddit to find the worst examples of humanity.
Enter r/FunkoPop, an entire subreddit dedicated to these ugly and expensive abominations. An entire subreddit where people have poured thousands of dollars into demonstrating that they’re losers with poor taste. An entire subreddit where- okay I’m done, here’s r/FunkoPop.

Funko Pops are stupid and so are the people on r/FunkoPop. I have no idea what the next Reddit Revue will be. Maybe I’ll revisit a previous subreddit, I don’t know. I really need to sit down one night and make a list of subreddits to visit so I’m not going into this shit blind every month.
