A health insurance company CEO was shot. Cry me a river.

The CEO of a major health insurance company was shot and killed on the streets of New York City. Good riddance.

Jamir in Legal has strongly advised me against publishing this article. When I advised him that I didn’t care and would be doing it anyway, Jamir simply sighed and advised me to at least include a disclaimer that says AJnet Magazine nor its staff support or endorse murder in any way.

There’s your disclaimer. Now with that out of the way…

UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was shot and killed Wednesday morning on a Manhattan street.

Footage of the attack, which can be found with a quick Google search, shows a masked and hooded man approach Thompson from behind and shot him multiple times with a silenced handgun. Thompson died from his injuries, and the NYPD has initiated a manhunt for the currently unidentified suspect.

I too have initiated a manhunt for the suspect. Not to collect the reward money (seriously NYPD, only $10,000?), but so I can buy this guy a goddamn beer.

Fuck Brian Thompson, he got what he deserved.

Yes, I said it.

Brian Thompson was a scumbag, and I have absolutely no sympathy whatsoever. Most of the time, people like this guy get away with their crimes, living a long and prosperous life scot-free with zero accountability. But, sometimes, the bad guy actually gets held accountable for what they’ve done. This time, the bad guy got held accountable, and I fucking love it.

Here’s a guy who was the CEO of one of the largest health insurance companies in the country, UnitedHealthcare. UnitedHealthcare is notorious for denying treatment for cancer patients, even moreso than most other insurance companies. Again, a quick Google search will yield nearly endless stories of denied treatment and subsequent lawsuits. And if that’s not enough, Thompson himself was under investigation for insider trading.

Am I supposed to feel sorry for this asshole? If you make a career out of fucking people over, eventually someone will get mad and kill you. Who knew? Thompson fucked around and he found out.

“B-but he was a father and husband, he had a wife and kids!”

Did I stutter? Fuck around and find out. If he cared so much about his wife and kids then maybe he shouldn’t have chosen to make a living screwing with people’s lives. How many children were left without a father and wives left without husbands because this greedy asshole and his company denied treatment for no reason other than profit? You reap what you sow.

I’m honestly surprised that this sort of thing doesn’t happen more often. I don’t think people realize just how easily accessible many of these CEOs really are, and how easy it actually is to walk up and plug them several times like this guy did to Brian Thompson. The illusion that white collar crooks are untouchable has been completely shattered. Everyone is saying that the shooter was some kind of professional hitman, but if you think about it he really didn’t do anything all that spectacular. Any guy can cover his face with a hood and mask, any guy can buy a gun and a silencer, and any guy can walk up to someone on the street and pull the trigger on him. The hardest part is keeping your mouth shut about what you did after the fact.

I also want to give this shooter props, not just for taking out a scumbag like Thompson, but for choosing to go after the person he was angry at and not killing any innocent civilians. Too often we hear about some lunatic taking their anger out on a crowd of innocent people who did nothing. This shooter didn’t want to be a dick, he just wanted to teach an asshole a lesson. No firing blindly into crowds and committing a mass shooting. He knew who his target was, he took his target out quickly and effectively, then he got the hell out of there. Thank you for not gunning down innocent people, Mr. Shooter.

All I know is, the CEOs of companies like Comcast and Google are probably shitting bricks right now. Might be time to start reevaluating those business practices, guys.
