In 1984, 14-year-old Tryna Middleton was walking home from a football game with a group of friends when she was abducted by Romell Broom. Her body was later discovered; she had been sexually assaulted and stabbed to death.
About a week ago, Romell Broom was scheduled to be executed when executioners, for more than two hours, were unable to find a suitable vein on him that would accept drugs from the lethal injection (due to Broom’s past intravenous drug use, as he was a heroin addict). When they tried a second time to execute him, Cleveland attorney Tim Sweeney, who represents Broom, sent a letter to the Ohio Supreme Court urging the court to stop the execution, which he declared to be unconstitutional. Basically, he believed that Broom’s constitutional right against cruel and unusual punishment was being violated. Later, Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland ordered a weeklong reprieve for Broom.
Are you fucking serious? This man murdered an innocent young girl and you halt the execution because the executioners couldn’t find a vein? You see, this is what’s wrong with America. We (or shall I say the liberals) are too concerned with the rights of the criminals, but oftentimes neglect the rights of the victims. The execution would have finally brought closure to Tryna’s mother, but instead she continues to suffer knowing that her daughter’s murderer is still alive, and can now continue to appeal his death sentence. Is this how we treat victims and their families? I feel sick.
Now, there are two things that piss me the fuck off. First, Broom has been on death row for 25 years! That’s right, 25 fucking years! Imagine all the tax money wasted in those years. This is a problem in the U.S. penal system that needs to be corrected. One country that America can learn from is China. Now, China may have some human rights issues, like the lack of freedom of speech, but the Chinese know what to do with their criminals. Chinese death row inmates are executed within months after they are convicted. In addition, the country now has mobile execution chambers, or “Death Vans.” These vans are equipped with lethal injection equipment and they travel from province to province carrying out executions. Now, I don’t believe these quick executions deter crime, but they sure can save taxpayers a lot of money, as opposed to keeping the prisoner alive for years on death row. Basically what I want to see done here in the U.S. is that if you are found guilty and sentenced to death, then your death sentence needs to be carried out expeditiously, with no more than one chance to appeal.
Second, what is it with these fucking bleeding heart lawyers? Seriously, do they have nothing better to do than protecting child killers? Their main argument is that Broom suffered both physical and mental stress during the first execution attempt, and thus another execution would be unconstitutional. What fucking bullshit! This man has been given the death penalty. You fight to keep him alive because you think his constitutional right against cruel and unusual punishment is being violated? I think it’s clear that the only person who suffered from cruel and unusual punishment was Tryna Middleton. Broom needs to be executed ASAP. There should be no sympathy for this cold-blooded murderer.
With all the controversy surrounding lethal injection and the way drugs are administered, there is another execution method which I want to share with you. The easiest and least expensive way to execute a prisoner, in my opinion, is to starve him to death. A week before the scheduled execution, you keep the prisoner locked in his cell and he’ll die in a couple days without food or water. Fuck anyone who thinks this is cruel. The government is cruel for wasting my tax dollars by keeping death row inmates alive for 20+ years (in this case 25).
Note: I apologize for the language, as I don’t usually use profanity, but I’m seriously angry.
