Let's Have A Talk, America
On July 4th, Americans will celebrate their Independence Day, the day when the 13 Colonies severed their ties to the British Crown and declared their sovereignty. This formalized the American Revolution, and the bloody struggle that it entailed. When we think of the Fourth of July, we think of fireworks, cook-outs, patriotic music, and supporting the troops (I'll give you enough credit to assume that you don't lump in department store sales). The truth is, we've forgotten the struggle of this nation's forefathers, the blood sweat and tears they poured into the chalice of this nation. Our forefathers, men who were not only willing to kill for the ideals of this nation, but to die for them as well. Most people today won't even shoot a deranged high school student going around killing other students let alone the armed forces of an oppressive entity. If faced with a threat, most people would turn to the "authorities" for protection. If faced with death, most people would simply grovel and beg for their lives. Society has abandoned its faith in itself and instead placed it in the hands of people who proclaimed themselves to be superior.
The country is going to hell in a handbasket, and you and I know it. Your method of reassurance has been "There's countries that have it worse than us!", forgetting the fact that we don't live in any of those countries. You discuss amongst yourselves the rampant corruption of our elected "officials", the rampant corruption of our police forces, and the deterioration of our neighborhoods and national infrastructure. Yet you do nothing about it but lament that it's "just a part of life". Where is the outrage? Where are the angry mobs?
Oh, that's right. They're busy complaining about frivolous things, like gay marriage, abortion, flag burning, or some off-the-cuff remark some politician made. The Federal Reserve loans $2 trillion (no, that's not a typo) of tax payers' money as "emergency loans" and refuses to disclose who they lent it to, nobody cares. A state considers legalizing two men or two women getting married, and people pour out of this country's every orifice to protest. Are you serious? If this were the 1800's, Ben Bernanke would have been dragged out of his office, beaten to a bloody pulp, then lynched. "I just lent out $2 trillion of your money, but I refuse to tell you who I lent it to!" Who the fuck does this guy think he is? Why doesn't anyone seem to care about this?
You know this kind of stuff is going on and you attempt to pass the blame onto the people in charge, when really the only people at fault are yourselves. These people told you they were acting in your best interest, and you trusted them. After the threat posed by the Axis in World War 2, how could you not? You trusted them to the point of reelecting them to what amounts to life-terms in their positions. We have Senators who have been elected to 8 consecutive terms, despite being guilty of manslaughter. We elect our leaders based on "the lesser of the two evils", and chastise those who don't vote as "lazy".
All you had to do was say "No." There was a point in this nation's history where this could have been prevented, where you could have intervened and refused the encroachments onto your civil rights. Instead, you opted for the government to become an entity most of you seem to view as an omnipotent force. You fear the police and the military to the point where you're afraid to question their actions. This fear manifests itself as infallibility. Either that, or you lump the entire police force into the same group as the corrupt cops and say "Fuck tha police!" like an uneducated street hood.
Now, the collapse of this nation is almost inevitable. Short of a miracle change of heart from our elected "officials", the economy is going to sink, and order and stability with it. No matter what Alex Jones or anyone else tells you, writing to these people isn't going to do shit. The best thing to do is wait. It's not a matter of "if", it's a matter of "when". The shit is slowly peeking out of the ass, and getting ready to drop into the fan. Obama was elected on his promises of "change". America is not blind. We can see what is put in front of us. When the people who voted for Obama see that they were lied to by someone who is supposed to be on the opposite end of the spectrum from people like Bush, they will be pissed. We've reached the top of the glass and it's going to overflow. Do you think that if the American people rioted en masse, the government could handle it? Not every soldier or cop is going to want to put their asses on the line while their family's safety is in jeopardy. When everything is said and done, we'll have a clean slate to work from, and we can ensure this never happens again.
So this Saturday, when you're eating your burgers and hotdogs and watching fireworks while Lee Greenwood's "Proud to be an American" plays in the background, stop for a moment and think about what our country's forefathers fought for and what they gave during that fight. Think about their struggle, about their courage. When the time comes to serve this country and forcibly defend your rights, will you be prepared to die on your feet, or will you opt to live on your knees at the wing tips of society's elite?
